2016 Maddens Rise Chardonnay
Estate grown, hand-picked and hand-made.
The grapes (a blend of I10V1 and Bernard 76 and 95 clones) were hand-picked and hand selected over a sorting table prior to whole bunch pressing. This wine was fermented using wild yeasts and aged on lees for 10 months. Malolactic fermentation was encouraged to enhance richness and texture. We used one new French oak barrel and the balance of seasoned French oak.
A beautifully balanced wine perfect for any occasion. It is pale yellow with a vibrant hue. It has a clean, linear finish, delivering characters of flint, almond and oatmeal with complexity from the toasted oak. White flowers, wet slate, almond meal and dried apple are evident on the nose. This wine is very elegant and satisfying with lovely weight and length.
Alcohol: 13.0%. pH: 3.30. Titratable acidity: 6.1 g/L.
